Draper's high-performance gyroscope for autonomous vehicle market
Draper announced that the Draper APEX Gyroscope is ready for integration into autonomous vehicles. Draper says it developed a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) gyroscope that provides sub-meter localization accuracy to guide vehicles to within centimeters of where it should be. Company engineers designed the gyro to deliver superior signal-to-noise ratio, minimize localization and position errors, and correct accumulated drift in the navigation system. In tests, the Draper APEX Gyroscope achieved an angle random walk (ARW) of 0.01 deg/hr1/2 and a bias instability (BIS) of 0.1 deg/hr. The new offering is currently available to license.
