Electric power assisted steering systems for autonomous vehicles
DC Electronics announced that it is now offering an electric power assisted steering (EPAS) system for system for autonomous vehicles, which adds to the company’s range of standalone EPAS systems.
David Cunliffe, Managing Director of DC Electronics, commented, “Having supplied electric power steering systems into the motorsport and automotive markets for over 10 years, developing autonomous capability was the logical next step for us. The feedback we have received from customers that are already using the system has been excellent. As we are the manufacturer of the systems and not just a reseller, we can provide complete custom autonomous EPAS solutions, whatever the requirement.”
The software is reportedly suitable for either fully or partially autonomous vehicles and allows the direction and rate of steering to be requested via CAN bus. It is designed for use with DC Electronics’ EPAS Ultra ECU (EPAS18), along with either the Motorsport column (EPAS01) or compatible OEM columns.
The software is available from both the Company’s UK and North American facilities. For further details on the Company’s complete range of EPAS systems, visit http://www.dcelectronics.co.uk/Products/EPAS.
