Rohde & Schwarz announced it has introduced an IEEE 802.3cg 10BASE-T1S compliance test solution for the automotive industry. The new IEEE 10BASE-T1S standard expands the range of applications supported by automotive ethernet to include integrating simple devices into the network.

This 10BASE-T1S compliance test, available for the R&S RTO and R&S RTP oscilloscopes, is intended to provide fully automated testing conforming to the current version of IEEE 802.3cg 10BASE-T1S interfaces.

The new R&S RTO-K89 and R&S RTP-K89 compliance test software for 10BASE-T1S includes pictorial instructions to guide users through the measurements step by step. Both the oscilloscopes and the R&S ZND network analyzer are automatically configured. The test results are documented in a pdf-format test report. The complete compliance test solution also includes a test fixture, simplifying connecting the 10BASE-T1S interface to the test setup.

Autonomous Vehicles - Thematic Research (PDF download)

The global automotive industry – worth $3.5 trillion in annual revenues – faces four concurrent disruptive threats: the connected car, the electric vehicle, autonomous driving technology and the concept of transport-as-a-service. Each threat is potentially existential to legacy carmakers who operate in a low growth, low margin sector that rattles with over capacity, and which is seeing its supply lines reset by cumulative advances in enabling technologies typically deployed by Tier-1 automobile sub-system suppliers. This report focuses on autonomous driving technology.
