GuardKnox offers comprehensive cybersecurity solution
Autonomous Vehicle Technology announces 2020 ACES Award Winner in Connectivity | Cybersecurity category
Any car built after 2003 is susceptible to hackers who can access vehicles’ embedded systems to listen in on conversations or, in some cases, even take control of the vehicles themselves. Yet, there is no official standard for vehicle cybersecurity despite an estimated 775 million smart vehicles on the road by 2023. That was the motivation behind GuardKnox Cyber Technology’s development of its Secure Network Orchestrator (SNO) solution, which enables strong separation and lockdown of communication traffic between ECUs in connected and autonomous vehicles in real-time. It offers a comprehensive in-vehicle cybersecurity solution that autonomously protects against known and unknown cyberattacks. The high-performance computing platform enables multi-platform and multi-service capabilities throughout the lifecycles of vehicles, without the need for costly hardware changes or extensions. The solution also offers a secure central gateway ECU that allows for more connectivity, safety measures, services, OTA updates, and vehicle customization. The company says it is unique in providing a solution as flexible, scalable, and future-proof to OEMs and aftermarket providers as a result of its patented Communication Lockdown methodology and Service Oriented Architecture. SNO can be built-to-spec and then adjust to end-user customization over a connected and autonomous vehicle life span. Though focused on top-level vehicle cybersecurity, the solution also enables a subscription-based application and services model that opens additional revenue streams for OEMs. It can ultimately convert drivers into subscribers of features and functions. GuardKnox says it is currently working with Porsche, Audi, Daimler, and others to ensure connected vehicles are protected on the road, and it is partnering with Palo Alto Networks to offer an end-to-end cybersecurity solution for connected cars and DXC Technology for fleet management.
