Jaguar Land Rover to reveal an ‘intelligent and connected’ steering wheel at Tech Fest
Jaguar Land Rover says it’s revealing an “intelligent and connected” steering wheel during the inaugural Tech Fest at Central St. Martins, University of the Arts London. The company says Sayer will be the first voice-activated artificial intelligence (AI) steering wheel that will be able to carry out hundreds of tasks. Sayer could reportedly signal an individual’s membership in Jaguar Land Rover’s on-demand service club, which offers either sole ownership or the option of sharing the car with others in the community.
Named after one of Jaguar’s notable past designers, Malcolm Sayer, the company says it envisions Sayer being the only part of a car owned by individuals, and vehicles of choice are instead called upon when and where it’s needed. Sayer will be featured on a new Jaguar future vision concept, Jaguar “Future-Type,” which will explore mobility in 2040 and beyond.
“Technology with Heart” is the theme of Jaguar Land Rover’s inaugural Tech Fest, an event that explores the positive role technology is playing in reshaping the automotive industry and beyond. The free-to-enter festival takes place at the internationally recognized Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. It is open to the general public from Friday, September 8 until Sunday, September 10.
The event will feature innovative exhibits and interactive displays that demonstrate how technology is being used to make a positive difference. Attendees can fast forward to the future and glimpse a world where cars drive themselves and vehicles are shared, not owned. Key moments from a media preview day will be broadcast across Jaguar Land Rover channels on Thursday, September 7. The preview will include a key note address by Jaguar Land Rover CEO Dr. Ralf Speth, followed by panel debates on industry hot topics. Follow the conversation using #JLRTechFest.
