SKG Technologia awarded Mobility project in Colombia
SKG Technologia, a Worldsensing partner, was awarded the Indigo2017 prize by the Colombian Ministry of Technology for a joint project in which Worldsensing deployed its real-time decision-making support solution, Mobility, including an incident management tool called Incidents and an app fueled by Bitcarrier intelligence. The announcement was made at ITS World Congress 2017 in Montreal, Canada.
With the aim to deploy a smart mobility management system, Cundinamarca chose Worldsensing׳s Bitcarrier system and its real-time mobility management solution, Mobility, which now make up the city׳s “Smart Helios” platform.
Worldsensing previously implemented its Mobility solution in Bogotá. The knowledge the company gathered during this project and the tools developed for the city of Bogotá facilitated the deployment of the system in Cundinamarca.
While Bitcarrier captures vehicle movements via smart sensors placed in strategic locations along a 28 km-long (17 mi) transport corridor, Mobility enables integration of Bitcarrier and other existing subsystems in Cundinamarca.
With the Mobility solution, Cundinamarca can manage all traffic and incidents from one single place while monitoring CO2 emissions. Being able to measure the impact vehicle emissions have on the environment was an important objective of the project, which is why sensors were installed to monitor air quality and trigger alerts.
Cundinamarca’s mobility concept also includes an on-the-road support team called the Road Safety Promoter Group (GPS). The group is in charge of traffic monitoring and incident reporting as well as supporting ambulances and traffic officers.
Users of the transport corridor in Cundinamarca can now benefit from the mobility app, which Worldsensing developed, allowing drivers to plan their journeys based on real-time traffic information. They can also request help or report accidents. “Mobility Cundinamarca Helios” is available for download in Apple׳s App and Google Play stores.
