Tamagawa launches fiber optic gyroscope
Tamagawa Seiki introduced a new, low-cost, tactical-grade, interferometric fiber optic gyroscope (iFOG), suitable for autonomous driving and mobility applications, and ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems).
The TA7774 iFOG is a single-axis, closed-loop fiber optic gyroscope. It has tactical grade accuracy, with 0.1 deg/h bias and <100 ppm scale factor accuracy. The device employs low-cost, telecom single-mode fiber and effective optical fiber winding techniques to reduce overall cost. Equivalent performing FOGs are priced 50% higher.
Other features include an SPI digital interface, stabilized platform, and small footprint at 85 mm square. The system is adaptable for applications including autonomous driving and ADAS for passenger cars, commercial fleets, construction vehicles and machines, and agricultural vehicles and machines. It can also be used for mobile mapping systems.
